just one of those days…

8 11 2009

Ok so it started out bad that Tom and I had a tiff. Yes we do argue occasionally. I had asked him to do something and he claimed to have forgotten and I accused him of selective memory loss and yadda yadda yadda. I don’t fight well. I fight really dirty and bad. I am not a good fighter…poor Tom…

Then I went to go get my crockpot chicken stew going and I had let the chicken defrost one to many days it is smelled funny so I had to toss it. What and expensive and stupid mistake. So it is off to Haggen to get more chicken. As I am just going to run in and out right? so no need to brush my hair and I can just throw on my ratty old sweatshirt as it is Sunday morning and who will be shopping on Sunday morning? Right?. Crap,
Hi Heather, Hi Teri, normally my hair isn’t wild straw hair tucked under a hat and normally I do put on non torn clothes…So I of course by 10 more things in addition to the chicken as I am there and I have already run into 2 people I know so what the heck guess I will do a little shopping.
I get home get groceries away and start cutting up the chicken breasts. Well they are so full of blood vessels it makes me start thinking vegetarianism is the way to go…then I start thinking about giving up steak and Boomers chicken strips and I keep hacking out all the gross bits. The dogs think this is great as they get all the nasty bloody pieces.
So now I am sitting here writing instead of jumping in the shower and getting ready to go look at houses with Tom. I better get my butt in gear and turn this day around.
Positives: it  is not raining, the crock pot is stuffed with Chicken, veges, squash and barley and Amazing race is on tonight.

Who I am want to win below :)

Sponge Offense

The Culprit

I work in a very small office. It is just My boss, her nurse and me. We share this suite with another Dr and her receptionist. Everyone gets along great accept the one Dr. we share the suite with has some very hard to live with habits…these include cooking eggs in the microwave at work, and if this is not bad enough sometimes she likes to ad fish to the eggs. barf. I like eggs but the smell first thing in the morning is bad enough to burn your eyes.  The other issue is the sponge, what you ask could possibly be wrong with a sponge. Well nothing if the sponge is changed as soon is it starts to get a little sour. The sponge above is at least 6 months old and so disgustingly smelly that if my cup is draining in the drain board and the sponge is just barely touching it my cups smells horrible.  I have tried bringing in a news sponge and tossing the old one…apparently this is a major sponge offense and caused more issues then it was worth. So I just be sure to keep my stuff out of the drain board.  The other issue is this Dr likes to use everyone else’s milk/creamer. Well I found a solution to that: Soy milk creamer. She doesn’t seem to like it hee hee. That is my thoughts for today as I sip my tea with soy milk creamer…don’t you wish you could have some office drama in your life?

Floating along

26 10 2009
Saturday trying to capture some leaves before they were all "rained" away.

Saturday trying to capture some leaves before they were all "rained" away.

Kind of describes the weather and my mood. It has not stopped raining since last night and it isn’t our normal rain it is a heavy very wet rain. And if you live in Pac NW you understand what I mean about wet rain. Most of the time we have rain you don’t even need serious rain gear, light misty dodge the drops kind. Not this stuff, this is raincoat and rain pants weather. I hope we don’t get more flooding, I am sure everyone would like a flood free winter.
My mood is kind of “meh”. I am trying to be happy about my birthday coming up but I am creeping up on 40 and feel a lack of accomplishment in my life. I will eventually snap out of it but sometimes I feel like a am just drifting through, which was ok in my 20’s and even early 30’s but now that I am in my late 30’s it makes me reflective. Then I think of all the things I have experienced and amazing people I have met and I feel better…
Sunday was fun, I went over to my friends house and “shopped” her amazing collection of halloween costumes and accessories and I have most of mine…still need to go to Goodwill/VV to find Tom’s.
My dad got out of the hospital yesterday and came over and hung out with the dogs while my mom took Tom and me out to birthday dinner at Pepper Sisters. Had a delicious tortilla filled with ricotta cheese, zucchinis and smothered in chipolte sauce with a pepper cream. Oh so good.
Then came home and watched amazing race with my Folks and had Apple Pie and Ice cream from TJ’s that Tom had gotten as a treat.
See how can I be in a blah mood when everyone is being so nice to me for my birthday…

It started out as a nice day…

23 10 2009

…and then things went down hill from there. Actually my life has been nice and normal lately. Not exceptional, kind of boring but I will take boring. I like boring. The week started out well. My biggest stress was trying to figure out a Halloween costume. I got to watch the top 20 picked on So You Think You Can Dance and then my new favorite show Glee was great (despite getting the “thong song” stuck in my head, thank you Glee for that one, I thought I would never have “thong, tha tha thong stuck in my head again). Yesterday I rushed home from a nice day at the office and made a dinner for Tom that he could take to his Class. Then loaded up the dogs in the car and went to Bailey’s Bath House. There was a new Rain Forest Shampoo that smelled lovely and made there dogs coats silky smooth. When I got out of bathing the dogs I noticed one call from my Dad at 5:17 and then many calls from my Mom. Not bothering to check my VM I called my Mom. She had come home from work at 6pm and my dad’s tools were all over the front yard, the front door was unlocked, there was a hospital blanket on the floor, the dog was locked in the bedroom and there were plastic EKG lead covers all over the floor. She had already called St. Jo’s but they had not admitted him yet. So we rushed the dogs over to my house. fed and walked them and headed to the hospital to find my Dad. Following the trail from the ER was pretty scary but thankfully he was in Surgery which was a good sign. So we waited in the Cardiac waiting room from 7 to 10:30pm. Finally the surgeon came out and talked to us and explained that my dad had indeed had heart attack number 3. He had coded twice on the ride from the ER to surgery. 2 more stints and a 4.5 hours of surgery my Dad was out and hopefully on the road to recovery.
Meanwhile I am hoping for a nice boring day today…

Oct 3rd WCL Sieger Show

13 10 2009

About a week ago, JoAnne and I took the trek up to Canada to go to the Sieger Show with Vinnie. This is a German Style confirmation show. Basically you run your do around the ring with a bunch of other dogs and the judge gives you a ranking and a written critique. It usually takes 2 people for the running unless you are in great shape as they do have you run quite a bit. Vinnie did quite well and got a nice V rating which is the top rating you can get. He didn’t win first place but what does the judge know about true beauty anyway :)
Our crossing into Canada was really easy. Hand the border guy our licenses, he sorta glances at them hands them back and tells us to have a nice day. This is in contrast to on the way back at the US border. We hand the guy our licenses (enhanced BTW) and our passports/birth certificates, and dogs rabies certificate. The guys asks all sorts of questions about why we were in Canada (dog show), what kind of dog show (umm Sieger german style show), did you spend $1000 dollars (I think JoAnne might have said something about I wish) he doesn’t say anthing, goes in his little booth thingy and hangs out there for 8.5 minutes (I timed it) Not sure what he was doing (maybe checking his FaceBook Status LOL) then finally he gives us all our paperwork and states we can go. I thank you thank you jeesh, did me and my mom and our dog in the VOLVO station wagon really look that threatening???
We passed on the Fries with Gravy for lunch and instead had some really great chilli made by one of the club members. All in all it was a really fun day and I got to talk to some people and meet some dogs I hadn’t seen in quite awhile.

Start out by getting Vinnie's teeth counted and making sure he has all his boy bits

Then we stand and look pretty for the judge and in Sieger shows you get to have a "double handler" meaning someone elses stands outside the ring and trys to make your dog look alert, all JoAnne had to do was hold a tennis ball up

Then we run for a bit, I only lasted half way. JoAne had to take over for me for the last part half.

Just when I thought Friday couldn’t get any better

9 10 2009
Sieann Smiling

This is about how big I am smiling right now !!!

Today to celebrate the opening of their newly remodeled lab downstairs from us where I work, Peace Health had free muffins and expresso drinks. I had a lovely apple struedal muffin that was full of nice brown sugar topping and a hot chocolate. Then the best news of all…Picard’s vet called (from home she is fabulous) and although his tumor was a Mast Cell (malignant) it was low grade (that is good) and the margins are clear (he doesn’t have to go in for more surgery) YAY such a great day!
looking forward to my Rally obedience class with Sieann tonight.

Happy Friday!

Oct 5 Picards Surgery (or patience is not one of my virtues)

6 10 2009

I am not very good a waiting…I know it is important to not be instantly gratified and believe me I am constantly reminded of this fact. It still doesn’t help me when I am waiting for things that can shape my life. Picard my 11.5 yo dog went in for surgery and now I am “impatiently” waiting for the pathology results – which can take up to 7 business days. WHAT now I have to wait 7 days?? not like this is going to make a difference, but it is there at the back of my mind distracting me, nagging at me.
As for Picard he has a huge incision that is stapled shut and looks quite “frankendog”. He is a very good patient but you can tell he is in a lot of pain and as it is the side he normally sleeps on he keeps trying to lie down on that side and then cries pitifully which of course breaks my heart. Poor thing…Picards Vet Dr. Wendy (at Fairhaven vet)  did a beautiful job with the stapling and was great calling me with updates and explaining everything that they were doing.
Below are the pictures of the incision for those who are interested, don’t scroll down if you don’t like to look at things like that :)

Picard Surgery full view

This picture gives the best perspective on how big the incision is...

Picard Surgery full view close 1

There is actually another "cyst like" tumor at the top of the incision that they couldn't remove at this time as it would have been to big a incision...they took a sample and poor "Frankendog" may have to go back in for more surgery

Close up of staples, a little blurry but shows how many he had to have
